A day in Thimphu
Visiting the Kingdom of Bhutan is an
adventure. This Himalayan Kingdom is only open to a few tourists a year and is
steeped in history and legend. Located between India and China this small
country is the ultimate thrill when travelling on Bhutan Adventure Tours.
You’ll see mountain peaks, colourful costumes and meet some of the friendliest
people in the world.
The capital Thimphu features on many Bhutan tours and has
lots to see and experience.
Thimphu has many temples and even the city’s
only traffic light is encased in a temple structure. One of the best ways to
see Thimphu on a Bhutan Backpacker Tour is to get out and walk the streets.
You’ll find some delightful shops and restaurants and food stalls here. That
along with people watching is quite an experience in downtown Thimphu. You’ll
immediately notice the distinctive costumes as you explore on your Bhutan Adventure tour. These are worn daily but to see some of the more colourful
costumes do time your visit with a festival as the Bhutanese love to party. You’ll
find traditional masks in town too which are great souvenirs from Bhutan
Backpacker tours.
Trashe Cchoe Dzong is a highlight of a Bhutan tour and is the
National Assembly building in Thimphu. To see more of the crafts here visit the
Museum of Traditional Arts whilst on your Bhutan Adventure Tour. You’ll also
enjoy the Textile Museum where even more traditional crafts are displayed. In
Thimpu do check out the post office as the Bhutanese love stamps. These are made
in all kinds of colourful designs and are great for sending home to friends
telling them all about your Bhutan backpacker Tour. By now you must be tempted
into visiting so do check out the Bhutan tours to see what you can do both in
Thimphu and other parts of this beautiful country.
